Many still believe algorithms are neutral — that they simply “reflect data.” But data itself is shaped by historical inequalities, missing context, and design bias. From job applications to loan approvals, the use of flawed algorithms can reinforce systemic injustice under a guise of objectivity. We must push for transparent, accountable AI systems — and question who gets to decide what’s fair.
